Since the threat of plastics to the environment is a cross-country concern, this project is an opportunity for teachers and students across SEA countries to work together for this project that focuses on the environment.

How well does the project address REQUIRED content? In other words, Is the project content-rich?
According to Target 4.7 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of UNESCO, “By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and nonviolence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.” This project is based on sustainable development goal on the environment which aims to provide students awareness and actions through education for global citizenship. In particular, students not only equip themselves with a global understanding of an urgent matter but also take actions to address this issue.

Plastic has been existent worldwide and in SEA countries, and they have been used a lot in daily activities. Recent articles and reports have shown how plastic bags become an environmental hazard to human and living creatures in the Earth. This is definitely a problem that is currently happening and prone to worsen if no actions are taken.

If possible, technology such as computers, Internet connection, online meeting, graphics can be used to enhance the quality of the project. However, if the technology is limited, students can use traditional means to perform their project.

How well will the project engage learners throughout the region?
This problem is regional, so by comparing actions of different groups from different countries, students not only exchange their ideas but also find out the most possible solution to deal with the problem in their local place.

How does the driving question address social equity and access to education?
The project will help raise awareness of the problem that using plastics is harmful. The project will impact many people in different classes in the society as well as offer them a meaningful lesson of life protection, thus providing social equity and access to education to nearly all walks of life in that local area.

This project requires the direct involvement of parents and local community when it is done in households, neighborhoods and local markets.

Students can choose which place they want to carry out the project in. They are also free in contacting any groups from SEA countries.
